Dr. Mohan Madhukar Bhagwat Inaugurated Fodder Bank Ayurvet ProGreen Hydroponics Technology

The first ever kind of fodder bank in the country, Ayurvet ProGreen Hydroponics Machine (APH-1000) installed at the premises of Cattle Breeding Farm of MAFSU, Nagpur was inaugurated by Shri. Mohan Madhukar Bhagawat, Sarsanghchalak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on 25th April 2016.

During the occasion dignitaries including Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Union Minister of State for Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Dr. Umesh Chandra Sharma, President, Veterinary Council of India, Dr. Nitish Bharadwaj former member of the Parliament, Dr. A. K. Misra, Vice Chancellor, MAFSU were present. Ayurvet was represented by the team lead by Mr. M. J. Saxena, Managing Director.

To mark the occasion a special issue of Ayurvet Pashu Swasthya Sansar highlighting Ayurvet and MAFSU new initiative towards hydroponics fodder bank was released by Shri. Mohan Madhukar Bhagwat.

Dr. Mohan Madhukar Bhagawat, Sarsanghchalak of RSS appreciated the efforts of Ayurvet team and especially hydroponics technology which is an emerging technology of the future. He further stressed that the farmers should be familiarized with this technology to avail complete advantage and should be made available on reasonable prices.

While speaking to the media Mr. M. J. Saxena, Managing Director, Ayurvet Limited said that the technology is commercially tested and certified by Northern Region Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institute, Tractor Nagar, Sirsa Road, Hisar, Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation. The machines are installed at various locations in India. The best part is the machines is available in different models as per the requirement of the customers which could produce anything from 50kg to 1000kg per day and the initial cost if around 3.00 lacs. He further added the technology not only saves water, land, labour and time but also produces green feed and fodder round a year for animals. The feeding of hydroponics green feed to livestock has resulted in improvement of milk yield, reproductive efficiency and replacement of compound feed.

The Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) and Ayurvet Limited pioneers and leaders in providing hydroponics solution in India have to agreed to collaborate towards providing the green feed to livestock in the water scarce area of Marathwada and Vidarbha.

Dr. A. K. Misra, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of  MAFSU expressed his confidence that Ayurvet ProGreen Hydroponics technology would go a long way in addressing the concerns of the farmers for green feed for the livestock.

The background behind the initiatives taken by these two esteemed institutions was realization of fact that in dry places like Vidarbha and Marathwada where the situation of availability of water and fodder for livestock is critical and the distress suffered by the farmers is beyond comprehension, cultivating fodder on this dry land agriculture is surely not justified. It is a well accepted fact that feeding dairy animals is incomplete without including green fodder in their diet.  Hence, growing fodder in machines which requires very little space and yet produce over a 1000kg green fodder daily is emerging as the technology of the future. Ayurvet’s solution towards fodder production, Ayurvet ProGreen Hydroponics Technology is of great help to address the acute fodder shortage in Marathwada’s.
