भारत का किसान 

भारत गांवों का देश है । भारत की आत्मा गांवों और किसानों में बसती है । इसलिए भारत एक कृषि प्रधान देश भी कहलता है । यहां की 70-80 प्रतिशत जनता प्रत्यक्ष और अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से कृषि पर निर्भर करती है । किसान हमारे लिए अन्न, फल, सब्दिया आदि उपजाता है ।

वह पशुपालन भी करता है । लेकिन भारतीय किसान की आर्थिक स्थिति अच्छी नहीं है । स्वतंत्रता के 50 से अधिक वर्षो के बाद भी वह गरीब, अशिक्षित और शक्तिहीन है । उसे कठोर परिश्रम करना पड़ता है । उसके परिवार के सदस्य भी दिन-रात खेत-खलिहान में जुटे रहते हैं । बड़ी कठिनाई से वह अपना और अपने बाल-बच्चों का पेट भर पाता है ।

अभी भी उसके पास वही बरसों पुराने खेती के साधन हैं ।उसे बहुत कुछ मानसून पर निर्भर रहना पड़ता है । अगर समय पर अच्छी बरसात नहीं होती, तो उसके खेत सूखे पड़े रहते हैं । गांव में अकाल पड़ जाता है, और भूखों मरने की नौबत आ जाती है । वह अपने हाथों से कठोर परिश्रम करता है, खून-पसीना बहाता है, फिर भी वह गरीब और परवश है ।

उसकी आय इतनी कम होती है कि वह अच्छे बीच, खाद, औजार और पशु नहीं खरीद पाता । वह अशिक्षित है, और कई अंधविश्वासों और कुरुतियों का शिकार । सेठ-साहूकार इसका पूरा लाभ उठाकर उसका शोषण कर रहे हैं । वह अपनी संतान को पड़ाने के लिए भी नहीं भेज सकता । या तो गांव में स्कूल नहीं होता, या फिर बहुत दूर होता है ।

इसके अतिरिक्त वह बच्चों से खेत पर काम लेने के लिए विवश है । वह उन्हें पशु चराने जंगल में भेज देता है । सरकार ने भारतीय किसान की सहायता के लिए कुछ कदम उठायें हैं । उसे कम ब्याज पर कर्ज देने की व्यवस्था की गई है जिससे वह बीज, खाद आदि क्रय कर सके । परन्तु यह पर्याप्त नहीं है । सच तो यह है कि उस तक सहायता पहुंच नहीं पाती । बिचौलिये बीच में ही उसे हड़प लेते हैं ।

अशिक्षित होने के कारण वह अपने, अधिकारों के प्रति जागरूक नहीं हैं । दूसरे लोग सरलता से उसके आधिकारों का हनन कर लेते हैं । उसे शिक्षित किया जाना बहुत आवश्यक है । इसके लिए प्राथमिक शिक्षा को अनिवार्य, मुफ्त और सर्वसुलभ बनाने की परम आवश्यकता है । हर गांव में उसके पास स्कूल खोले जाने चाहिये ।

स्कूलों में कर्मठ, ईमानदार और प्रशिक्षित अध्यापक लगाये जाने चाहिये । किसानों को कुए खुदवाने, बीच आदि खरीदने के लिए ऋण सुलभ होना चाहिये । वर्ष के बहुत समय वह निठल्ला बैठा रहता है । यह समय उसकी शिक्षा और कृषि संबंधी ज्ञान देने के लिए किया जा सकता है ।

जब तक भारतीय किसान निर्धन और अशिक्षित है, तब तक देश की उन्नति नहीं कर सकता । हर तरह से उसकी सहायता कर उसको स्वावलम्बी और शिक्षित बनाया जाना चाहिये । कोई ऐसी व्यवस्था होनी चाहिये कि वह कभी बेकार न बैठे और खेत खाली नहीं रहे । इसके लिए सिंचाई की समुचित व्यवस्था बहुत आवश्यक है ।

अधिकतर भारत के किसान खेतीहर मजदूर हैं, या उनके पास बहुत थोड़ी जमीन होती है । कई बार वह जमीन भी अनुपजाऊ होती है । प्राय: सिंचाई के साधन का अभाव रहता है । वह जो कुछ उपजाता है, उसका उचित मूल्य नहीं मिलता । कई बार उसकी फलस बिकती नहीं और पड़ी-पड़ी सड़ जाती है ।

हमारे स्वर्गीय प्रधानमंत्री लाल बहादुर शास्त्री ने हमें ‘जय किसान, जय जवान’ का नारा दिया था । यह हमारे किसानों के महत्व को रेखांकित करता है । परन्तु अभी भी उनकी हालत बड़ी दयनीय है । उनकी इस दशा को सुधारने के हर संभव प्रयत्न किये जाने चाहिये । उनकी उन्नति और विकास पर ही देश की समृद्धि टिकी है

Ayurvet, an organization which has innovation encrypted in its genes, floating in the protoplasmic fluid of knowledge, sieved through the tools of science and technology has propounded the concept of “ Integrating Livestock & Agriculture” , using the available resources under Ayurvet 5Fs Programme. This programme defines sustainable integration of Food, Feed, Fodder, Fertilizer & Fuel for the benefit of all stake holders.

Considering the same, The Ayurvet Knowledge Symposium on the theme of “Integration of Livestock sectors for improving the farm profits and food security” was organized in collaboration with Ayurvet Research Foundation on 19^th October 2013 at PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, PHD House, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi – 110015. This symposium provided platform for scientists, nutritionists, agriculturist, feed industry professionals and farmers of Livestock and Agriculture sectors to share and deliberate these issues towards possible solutions.

Dr. A.K. Gahlot, Vice Chancellor, RAJUVAS, shared RAJUVAS model of integration and appreciated the initiative of Ayurvet in Hydroponics for producing quality green feed. He mentioned that his university is ready for any PPP mode programme towards sustainable development. He said it is because of this integration in Rajasthan, there are suicides in Rajasthan even after the droughts in the state. 

Sh. Harish Damodaran, Print Editor Hindu Business Line, questioned that can that dairy farming made into an independent business for farm profits. He argued can we not feed the animals right, and not link it with agriculture. He however urged that the sustainable operations are need of the hour.

Speaking on the occasion Sh Pradip Burman, Chairman Ayurvet, emphasized the need of integration and the Ayurvet 5F model initiatives in this direction.

A special farmer’s interaction session was organized for sharing their experiences. This was chaired by Dr. P. N. Bhat, Managing Trustee ARF. Many farmers and experts shared their successful experience of integration in their own way. Maj. Bhatia of Jindal group shared his experience of feeding hydroponics to horses for improving their health and performance.

Another learned farmer Mr. Pritam Singh from Haryana shared his success story of using hydroponics paddy nursery in his farm. He observed that the benefits he got from hydroponics were saving of water, time and labour.

While thanking the guests, Mr. M. J. Saxena, Managing Director, Ayurvet requested all the policy planners especially the Director for looking into the opportunity of working on the special course on 5Fs in NDRI. He also assured Dr. Gahlot that Ayurvet would continue to work with RAJUVAS in the areas of 5F. Mr. Saxena expressed his confidence that the initiatives taken would  results and help in taking one step ahead in direction towards sustainable integration.

The symposium registered the impressive presence of more than 150 delegates, which includes the senior representatives from our own ICAR, AYUSH and State Animal Husbandry Departments and media representatives from Doordarshan and Akashwani were distinguished guest during the occasion. The efforts of Ayurvet were appreciated by all the eminent guests.

Ayurvet Annual Dinner was organized as a regular feature followed by musical concert. The evening witnessed the release of the 21^st Annual Report and 4^th Sustainability Report. The programme was attended by Ayurvet employees and their family members along with the guests from Industry, Government Institutes and Media.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Pradip Burman, Chairman, Ayurvet Limited appreciated the work of Ayurvet team members and thanked all the stakeholders without whose support the company could not have achieved the new landmark. 

Mr. Anand Mehrotra, Business Head (North & East India) was awarded for his long service of 20 years with Ayurvet. This year another award for nurturing and motivating the children of Ayurvet employees to perform better in their studies was introduced, this has also motivated not only to Ayurvet Employee but their children to prove themselves as responsible and learned persons. 

Ayurvet Limited is scaling newer heights with its global presence and many awards and honor to its credits. Ayurvet is now working towards frontier areas of technology integration of Livestock, Agriculture and Human Health through its unique environment friendly initiatives and it is committed towards building healthier tomorrow.

“AYURVET WINS RMAI FLAME AWARDS 2014” FOR ITS EXEMPLARY PERFORMANCE AND CONTRIBUTION IN RURAL COMMUNICATION

Ayurvet won another prestigious RMAI (Rural Marketing Association of India) Flame Awards 2014 on 17^th January 2014 at Hotel Taj Vivanta, Gurgaon for excellence in Rural Marketing and Communications. The objective of these awards is to recognize and reward successful case studies in rural marketing.

The Flame Awards were instituted by the Rural Marketing Association of India in 2006 to recognize excellence in marketing, promotion and initiatives in rural markets of the country.

Ayurvet received this award under the category of Integrated Long Term Campaign of the Year – A Rural Communication Campaign for Ayurvet Pashu-Jagat Radio Programme. Ayurvet had submitted the case study on rural communication campaign through Ayurvet Pashu-Jagat Radio Programme an joint initiative with Animal Husbandry Department and All India Radio for Improving Farm Profits.

It is worth mentioning that the competition was very tough, however out of 209 entries received for various categories, we were amongst the winners.

The eminent jury comprising brand custodians, educationists and other experts in the field of rural marketing including Mr. S. Sivakumar – Chief Executive (ABD) ITC Ltd, Ms. Geetu Verma, Executive Director, Unilever Ltd along with other senior executives from Dabur India Ltd, Harish Bijoor Consultants Inc., NIILM Centre of Management Studies, Bloomberg TV India, Eicher Tractors & Glaxo Smithkline evaluated the applications.

Ayurvet was conferred with the prestigious CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2013 for its Strong Commitment towards its exemplary performance and contribution in the economic, social and environmental segment of its business. Shri. Sachin Pilot, Hon’ble Minister for Corporate Affairs, Government of India presented this award to Mr. M. J. Saxena, Managing Director, Ayurvet Limited at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 20^th December 2013.  Ayurvet had presented and demonstrated its triple bottom line case study (Economical, Social and Environmental) for the award.

The Awards are a part of the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development’s continued efforts to create awareness, promote policy and practices, and create capacity to mainstream sustainability practices. Not only do the Awards help reward exemplary enterprises for their pioneering efforts, but this recognition also helps create beacons of inspiration for others to follow.  The ceremony was well attended by some of the most illustrious and distinguished CEOs who came to receive their awards.

It is worth mentioning that this honour was conferred on Ayurvet, the only Animal Health Care Company amongst various public sector undertaking and renowned corporate houses.

It is our responsibility to empower them so as to conserve and nurture natural resources.” He also said that “the top management and the Boards have to drive the agenda, and allow middle management the elbow room to execute. “What a Farmer Teaches, No University Can Teach” – Shri. Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat

 

·    Increasing the population of animals will not help. “The need is to increase productivity.

·    Nation’s development rate will surge when the common man is integrated in the development journey and can make an effective contribution to the progress of the nation.

·    Needed to use modern technologies in all aspects including agriculture.

·    More than 8,000 farmers from 28 different states of India attended this two-day event.

·    Exposure visit of farmers to Panchmahal Dairy at Godhra and SUMUL Dairy for experiencing the dairy processing techniques and Ayurvet hydroponics fodder.

 

Animal husbandry stands as the second largest economic activity in agriculture sector in the country. It is an ancestral, customary and most acceptable livelihood activity for semi skilled and unskilled villagers. It provides supplementary but sustainable livelihood to the rural families.

Gujarat State has been pioneer in bringing White Revolution in the Country with a classical organized Co-operative structure for livestock breeding, milk production, milk procurement, processing and its marketing.

The All India Conference on Livestock and Dairy Development was jointly organized by Department of Animal Husbandry and Gujarat Livestock Development Board, J. K. Trust, Gujarat Veterinary Council, BAIF in collaboration with various Govt Departments, Dairies and NGOs and other stakeholder and organizations associated with livestock and dairy sector at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar during 11-12 June 2013.

The inaugural function was presided over by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri. Narendra Modi.  There were five parallel technical sessions on different themes on  service delivery system in animal husbandry, present scenario and future challenges in milk production, fodder, fertilizer and livestock development, impact of climate change on livestock production, strategies for sustainable dairy development, remunerative self-employment and rural development, women empowerment and animal health and disease prevention and control.

 

 

 Speaking on the occasion Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri. Narendra Modi spoke about the need to use modern technology in all aspects including agriculture and affirmed that the nation’s development rate will surge when the common man is integrated in the development journey and can make an effective contribution to the progress of the nation.  Hon’ble CM further said, “ I will be with you for the entire day and will learn from you. What a farmer teaches, no university can teach.

 

Hon’ble CM stressed on the importance of productivity in the present circumstances when the population is increasing and the amount of land with an individual is decreasing. He further said that productivity must be increased through scientific methods with latest technology. Talking about the animal husbandry sector Hon’ble CM opined that Gujarat already has a good network of cooperatives and dairy but pointed that only increasing the population of animals will not help. “ The need is to increase productivity. In an animal is giving 2 litres of milk everyday, how can we make it 3, 4, 5 or 6 litres? And how can we do it scientifically?”.

 

 The Hon’ble Chief Minister also mooted the ideas of having 4-6 zones as grassland zones which can be of help during the time of drought or when the natural conditions become adverse for farmers. He said that the Government has thought of making the areas next to the Narmada canal into grasslands, which can help during times of scanty monsoon. Hon’ble CM stressed on enhancement of human resource development potential. CM talked about the upcoming AgroTech Fair in Gujarat  and shared that while the Government was considering holding this fair in early 2014, they will now hold the fair towards the end of 2013        itself.                                                            

 

 

Apart from Hon’ble CM of Gujarat , Hon’ble Agriculture Minister Shri. Babubhai Bokhiria, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture, The Ambassador of Denmark to India Shri. Freddy Svane, Shri Liladhar Vaghela, Hon’ble Minister of State Animal Husbandry, Shri. Giriraj Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Animal Husbandry, Bihar were also present during the occasion.

Hon’ble Animal Husbandry Minister of Bihar State, Shri. Giriraj Singh stated that for the success of rural community, we need to integrated livestock and agriculture is important. He also recommended that the 5 Fs (Food, Feed, Fodder, Fuel and Fertilizer) formula need to be integrated and advocated to fulfil the need of rural economy.

Ayurvet Research Foundation got appreciated by Shri. Bhupinder Singh Hooda,  Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana on the occasion of 32^nd Foundation Day Celebration of NABARD on 12^th July 2013 at Panchkula, Chandigarh. This award of honour was received for creating the maximum numbers of Kisan Clubs and taking active participation in rural development  programmes by the support of NABARD in the year 2012-13.

Shri. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana was the Chief Guest of the event. The award of honour and certificate for recognition from NABARD was received by the representatives Dr. R.S.Balhara and Shri. Balram Dass and Mr. K. Ravikanth (Vice President, Ayurvet Limited) of  Ayurvet Research Foundation  during the award function.

Ayurvet Research Fondation is committedly working for the welfare and societal benefit of farmers since 2007 in the areas of Haryana (Sonipat & Panipat).  In the year 2012-13 ARF has been actively creating the Kisan Clubs with the support of NABARD. The farmers took advantage from these Kisan Clubs. In previous year ARF has created 53 kisan clubs. The main objective of this club is to disseminate the latest technological advancement  in farming and farm credit schemes for benefiting the farmers for improving their socio-economic status.

 

 

During the occasion Shri. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana announced the launch of ‘Mandi Payment Scheme’ in the State for the benefit of the farmers and to ensure they get remunerative prices of their produce. Hon’ble Minister further said that the scheme would be named after former Punjab Hon’ble Chief Minister Shir. Pratap Singh Kairon, who had made outstanding contribution for the welfare of farming community after the independence of the country. The ‘Mandi Payment Scheme’ would bring more transparency in the transaction of farmers’ produce in the mandis.

Describing this as a progressive scheme, Hon’ble Chief Minister said that under this scheme, Mandi Debit Card would be made available to all the farmers of the State. The cards fitted with smart chip would enable them to know about the actual price and weight of their produce at the time of selling of their produce in the mandis. These Debit Cards would also be provided to Adhatis. The Hon’ble Chief Minister siad that an agreement has been signed with 18 Banks for the implementation of this scheme in Haryana.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister said that the there were 1765 Kisan Clubs in the State and the Government has made efforts to strengthen the Kisan Clubs. He reminded that last year he had announced that such clubs would also be formed at Sub Divisional Level. These clubs were being provided funds at the rate of Rs1lakh at district level and Rs60,000 per annum for Sub Divisional level.

On this occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri. Bhupinder Singh Hooda gave away awards to 22 best performing farmers club from all the districts in addition to their promoting agencies like Commercial Banks, Cooperative Banks and NGOs.

Ayurvet in collaboration with KRBL Ltd and Mahindra and Mahindra successfully organized maga farmer meet on 22^nd June 2013, Saturday in Jawer Village, Near Chattanga District, Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.

 This meeting was attended by around 250- 300 farmers from near by villages of Jawer along with senior official including scientists, researchers, innovators and the industry engaged in agriculture sector.  Senior officials from Ayurvet Limited includes Mr. M. J. Saxena, Dr. Anup Kalra and team, KRBL Ltd team included Mr. Ashok Chand and team , Mahinda & Mahindra included Mr.Shyam Vembar and team. The participants drew attention on paddy nursery challenges and opportunities present in India and farmer adopting new technology in agriculture with major emphasis on paddy farmers.

 The paddy nursery transplantation raised through Ayurvet ProGreen Hydroponics Technology was done in  collaboration with KRBL Ltd seeds and Mahindra Mahindra Rice transplanters.  More acreage would be done in the next few days.

Hydroponics is the science of soilless growing of plants in nutrient rich solutions with very little water. It is a technique where the physiological requirements of plants can be met without use of soil or natural sunlight. Hydroponics techniques have proven it to be very useful and efficient for producing food for livestock. The food that is available is free from undesirable materials such as weeds, insects, dust, insecticides, germicides, carcinogens.

We at Ayurvet had taken lead in undertaking the Research and Development in the area of Hydroponics for production of green feeds/ paddy nursery since 2007. The studies with help of experts have demonstrated that hydroponic paddy nursery helped in saving 18 days time at nursery stage and increased paddy yield by 10-15% along with 95% saving of land and water upto 95%.
